St. Petersberg, FL - In what can only be assumed as the first of it's blockbuster deals this season, the U.S. Supreme Court traded Justice Samuel Alito to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for LHP Scott Kazmir and cash considerations on Saturday. Many have speculated that a trade could have come from the high court at anytime, but were surprised when Alito was announced as leaving.
"This let's us move some things around," replied President George W. Bush. "We like Sammy; he's a good guy. But we're heading in a different direction. Heh."
As previously speculated, this move enables the Court to really delve into many of the cases currently on the dockett. "Kazmir has a lot going for him," said Chief Justice John Roberts. "With his slider, change-up and keen understanding of modern jurisprudence in an increasingly philosophically-polarized society, Scott will be a force to be reckoned with this season."
The Devil Rays were looking for a big name free agent, and they found one in Alito.
"This Alito kid provides a lot we needed," Devil Rays manager Joe Maddon said. "We were looking for a 57 year old, out-of-shape old man with a fastball that tops out at 37 MPH."
" We think we have that in Sammy."
