The Glass Is 99/100 Full
Even though I turned off the TV the split-second Inge struck out and didn't listen to another piece of World Series news the entire weekend, it's important that we don't get too down on the Tigers. To consider their season a failure just because they didn't win the Series would be a big mistake. Just think, this was a team that was maybe expected to have a .500 season. Instead, they ended up as one of the best teams in baseball. Then, after their late season collapse, they were given up for dead against the Yankees, whom they proceeded to beat in dominating fashion. Next, a sweep of the A's. Sure, it's depressing that the Series ended the way it did, but I hope Detroit sports fans aren't so fickle that they don't forget the other 99% of the season. Otherwise, the "We Always Believed" signs aren't quite as credible.
